John Stoddart is known for his portraits of some of the world’s most famous celebrities. Throughout his career he has captured some of the most iconic images of stars from world of entertainment.
BIOGRAPHY
John Stoddart’s passion for photography began as a hobby, and after leaving the Army in the early 1980’s he began documenting life in his home City of Liverpool.
Moving to London in 1985, Stoddart quickly established himself as one of the most versatile photographers of that decade, with his cinematic lighting style attracting the attention of major publications and international brands including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ and The Face.
In the 1990s Stoddart became known as “the photographer to the stars”, having worked with so many famous names and celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hugh Grant, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as famous bands and artists such as The Rolling Stones, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Geldof and Sinead O’Connor.
His archive stands as a window through which to view the world of ‘Fame and Celebrity' in the closing decades of the 20th Century, and the early years of the next.
